Download Bureau for Acorn Machines
The facilities in the Download Bureau will allow you to download most of the ArgoSphere activities onto your hard disc to be used offline. There are several advantages to using downloaded versions:
1. You can use the material at any time without needing to use a modem or tie up your
telephone.
2. Files can be copied onto floppy disc and loaded onto other machines.
3. Graphics and animations will load immediately so you won't have to find something to do
while pages build up.
4. You won't be hampered by poor or slow telephone connections.
5. You won't have to worry about telephone costs.
The files are in Spark format. If you know how to unSpark files, the procedure is remarkably simple. You create an ArgoSphere directory, download your selected items into that directory, and then make menus which will display the items and allow you to access them easily.
There are two menus; one for adults and one for children.
If you do not already have Spark or SparkPlug you can download SparkPlug. Save it to your hard disc, set type to BASIC, and double-click on it to create !SparkPlug in your root directory.
Instructions
Step 1
Create a directory on your hard disc called ArgoSphere.
Step 2
Download this Spark file (aglobl.zip 10K) which contains material used in all the items.
Step 3
Choose any of the following items (one at a time) to download as Spark files.
When you unSpark the downloaded files (either now or later) save them in the ArgoSphere
directory.

Step 4
Now you can create the menus. If you have downloaded all the items you will want full menus. If not, you will need customised menus listing only those items which you have downloaded.
Customised menus
These instructions must be followed
carefully.
Press the "Menu creator" button. A window will open containing the menu creator.
Save it as create/htm in the
ArgoSphere folder.
When it has been saved, close the Create Customised Menus window.
When you are offline, load create/htm into your browser and follow the instructions for creating the menus.
Press the full-menu buttons to open windows containing menus listing all of the above
items.
Save the children's menu in the ArgoSphere directory as 'argo/htm'.
Save the adults' menu in the ArgoSphere directory as 'adult/htm'.
Once you have saved each of the menus, close the menu windows.
Load ArgoSphere.argo/htm from your hard disc into your browser in
order to access all the children's items offline.
Load ArgoSphere.adult/htm from your hard disc into your browser in order
to access all the adults' items offline.
Save bookmarks or favourites for the menu pages to ensure easy access in the future.
